Our Ministries

Children belong in families!

We make every effort to allow every child to grow up in a family.

Whenever possible, children are reunited with relatives.

If that is not possible, they are integrated into a Ugandan foster- or adoptive family.

Vulnerable families are strengthened to enable them to keep caring for their children.

family based orphan care

We want to give a future and a hope to orphaned, abandoned and needy children.

It is a proven fact that children thrive best in families. No child wants to grow up with the stigma of being an ‘orphan”. Belonging to a family provides children with a sense of stability, identity and belonging. Children who grow up in institutions oftentimes find it challenging to live successful lives. Though it might be necessary at times for children to be in a home, this should not be a permanent solution.

Since Praise and Moses’ family is quite large, we are trying to identify extended family members who might be able to take some of the children into their families. This can be a lengthy and complicated process but so worth it in the end! Many have already found homes in Ugandan foster/adoptive homes.

We also support vulnerable families so that they can keep caring for their children rather than abandoning them.

These 3 cuties have now been reunited with extended family. Hallelujah!

Education

In 2012, Praise moved to Kigulu Village with her 17 children and discovered there was no school. Trusting in God, she and her children built three makeshift classrooms.

From these humble beginnings, Maisha Africa has grown to provide education to nearly 400 children—many of whom would otherwise have no access to schooling—through affordable or free education.

Secondary and tertiary education is provided for the children of the Namisi-family and selected children from the community as funds are available.

Preschool

Nurseries in Uganda are like Pre-schools and Kindergartens. Children ages 3-6 learn English (which they need for Primary School) and get prepared in other ways for Primary School.

‘Youth Achievers Christian School’ has a beautiful Nursery-school which is within walking distance to the Primary School. We currently have 3 classes for our eager little learners.

Young Achievers School

At Young Achievers Christian School, we are committed to academic learning alongside Christian values. Through Bible teaching and prayer, we seek to shape both the minds and hearts of our students.

With the faithful support of our donors, we continue to help children in Kigulu Village build a better future grounded in faith and integrity.

Your support makes a difference

Maisha Africa places a strong emphasis on education as part of our mission to empower children in Uganda. By donating to our education initiatives, your contribution can support the following:

  1. Running of our schools (Pre/Primary): Contributions are used to pay teachers’ salaries, improve school facilities and create safe and conducive learning environments.
  2. School Fees and Supplies: Donations help cover the costs of school fees, uniforms, books, and other supplies, enabling children to attend school who might otherwise be unable to afford it.
  3. Quality Nutrition: Providing free breakfast and lunch for children whose parents are not able to pay for food is a goal we have as soon as funds are available to do this in a sustainable way.
  4. Teacher Training: Donations may help fund teacher training programs to ensure educators are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver quality education to students.
  5. Scholarships: Some donations may go toward offering scholarships for students who show promise but lack the resources to continue their education beyond our schools.
  6. Life Skills Education: Maisha Africa also provides life skills and vocational training for children and young adults, helping them become self-sufficient and better prepared for the future.

If you’re specifically interested in contributing to education, you could either donate a general amount or inquire if there are targeted programs you can contribute to, such as school sponsorship or specific educational projects.

Our medical fund allows surgeries and other medical treatments to take place to save lives and prevent children becoming orphans.

medical fund

Children become orphans when parents die from preventable and treatable diseases. People silently suffer for lack of available health care. This is the cruel reality of the impoverished village where Maisha Africa works, where more than half the population are children.

Uganda is one of the world’s hardest-hit countries with malaria, due to isolation and lack of medical facilities and medications. Other common diseases include HIV/Aids, parasites, respiratory conditions and diarrhoea.

Maisha Africa’s nurse provides the community with health related education which prevents a lot of medical emergencies.

You can help

Your designated donations enable us to provide essential healthcare by covering our nurse’s salary, medicines, medical tests, surgeries, and additional treatment for patients who cannot afford care.

Your generosity brings healing and hope to patients who would otherwise have no access to care.

Sharing the Gospel, reaching the lost, and winning souls have been Praise’s passion since she was ignited by the love of God as a teenager.

outreach

In 2012, when she moved to Kigulu with her children and found there was no church in the area, she started one.

From the very beginning, Praise sensed God calling her to raise up the children He had entrusted to her—not only to know Christ, but to become co-labourers in the harvest. Today, that vision has become a beautiful reality. Most of those children are now devoted young adults, faithfully serving alongside Praise in the now-thriving church and its growing outreach ministries.

Church Growth

Together with Praise, Moses also started a church in Eastern Uganda. Along with the existing church in Central Uganda, they are now overseeing both churches.

This picture shows the recently finished church building located in Eastern Uganda.

You can partner in this work

With the median age in Africa of 19 and an explosive population growth predicted, Africa’s youth represent a tremendous potential for global impact.

Together with their adopted and spiritual children, Praise and Moses have a passion to reach their generation with the love and power of God and ignite revival in Uganda and beyond.

Your designated gift can help support children’s and youth conferences, camps, seminars, discipleship programs and church planting initiatives.
